The Ryan-Drake Home
2530 Ryan Place Drive
2530 Ryan Place Dr. is a Georgian-inspired home designed in 1917 by renowned Fort Worth architect Wiley G. Clarkson for John C. Ryan Jr. and his wife Lucy Ryan, nee Stripling. This large two-story home, with a full basement, is a wood-framed rectangular design with a veneer of pale buff brick and a hip roof with green Ludowici tiles. The house is symmetrically composed with a center pediment portico supported with paired iconic columns. Transomed double doors communicate in symmetry with the architecturally significant terrace portico and porte-cochere.
The Drakes purchased the home in 2001 and have since made extensive improvements. All renovations were carefully executed with input from historic designers to gracefully integrate a more functional kitchen with an open living space, return natural lighting to the formal living room, and connect these rooms to updated outside spaces.
